We have undertaken the structural design of the restoration of the arts and music building of the Izmir American College: Bristol Hall. ReKare Mimarlık is the architect of the record of the restoration, and our client was the SEV foundation. Within the scope, the exterior masonry wall of the building will be salvaged while the interior floors, walls, and foundations will be removed and reconstructed. The new construction will be a steel system with braces. The floor slabs will be composite slabs. To retain the character of the old construction, all the interior partition walls will be remade with solid brick. Also, the roof over the attic floor of the teacher's room will also be remade as a solid timber beam and rafter system with complex geometry due to gables and openings.
