ATTEC is the structural engineer of this highly prestigous and historically significant restoration project of Halic Shipyard spreading out to 70,000 m2.

The yard is renowned as one of the first shipyards in Ottoman Empire with its first pool and buildings being built around 1780s. The site will be used as science center after restoration, allowing vistors to experience Turkish maritime history and science behind it. The historic masonry and riveted steel buildings require a high level of sensitivity in regards of seismic, material and strengthening analysis, in order for them to remain largely open singular spaces to be re-used as exhibition halls, galleries, science and innovation centers, library, restaurants and exterior areas.

The industrial heritage can be preserved by allowing the orginal construction to show itself without crowding of the retrofit elements and elegant solutions are required. Hence we are.
