The 6- story, HQ building was designed and built not in conformance with the Seismic Code in Bolu, Turkey. Main responsibility was designing the strengthening of the building for code compliance. The steel moment connections were reinforced with fin plates welded to existing bolted flange plates. Web openings of the existing castellated beams were filled in at shear-critical beam-ends. Mr. Topbas also oversaw the retrofit installations and weld inspections. Burak Karsu was the owner’s consultant, checking our work.
