Seismic retrofitting of two 6-story brick masonry hotel buildings. Located in the entertainment and touristic district of Beyoglu, the 100-year old buildings were reinforced with eccentrically braced frames and special seismic moment frames. Long direction seismic forces were taken by existing brick masonry walls. Existing concrete slabs and beams were not demolished and they were used as a form for new structural topping. Threaded rods and steel plates were used to connect the existing concrete to new steel and topping slab. A total of 60tons of steel was used.
